Classes
Hatha - a practice suitable for all levels; focusing on individuals alignment and the health benefits, both physical and emotional of each posture. Holding postures for up to a minute, moving the spine to increase blood flow and mobility, using familiar poses that are suitable for a beginner and including progressions to challenge the more experienced yogi. Integrating this traditional form of yoga strengthens the muscles and mind to prepare the body for a fulfilling meditation practice.
Vinyasa - a flowing style of yoga connecting traditional postures into sun salutations, with a step by step progression towards more challenging poses. A faster paced class to strengthen the whole body and generate heat to aid in the reduction of weight and stress whilst increasing flexibility and endurance. Completing the class with a generous stretches and allowing space to connect with the self using Pranayama and inward reflection.
Yin/Restorative - slow and gentle, a class that can be taken with your eyes closed. Directing the stimulation created throughout the class to go deeper than the muscles and targeting the connective tissues. Poses are held for 2-5 minutes, offering a delicious release of the connective tissue and freeing the joints to allow energy to move through the body leaving you feeling relaxed
Mat Pilates - Focusing on activation of the deep abdominal muscles and strengthening of the back, glutes and stabilizing muscles to support correct posture. Suitable for all levels.
Yin and Yoga Nidra - In this class, allow yourself to be guided towards a deep restful state of awareness. Beginning with joints and glands warm up to release tension holding in the body, then moving through some Yin poses; to lengthen the breath and transition into the rest and restore state, to prepare for deep relaxation. Yoga Nidra practice is working towards a state of peace and contentment, ultimately resulting in enlightenment. In this state, we open ourselves to receive the healing energy that already exists within us.
Meditation it isn't just replacing a busy mind with pleasant imagery, although we do use it from time to time. It is discovering what is going on in the mind and learning the ability to allow it to pass us by. To begin meditation, it is important that you have a clear, genuine guide to assist you in developing your practice. If you have made it here, its possibly because you have heard that meditation can reduce stress. Perhaps you have tried to begin a practice on your own but have become pre-occupied with the on-going dialogue in your head. Our meditations will anchor you to the present moment, using the voice, breath work and relaxation techniques.
